Special Partnerships and Projects:
The CNY/OC Teacher Center and the Reading League have partnered with 9 Oswego County school districts and CiTi BOCES in a multi year project to focus on Pre-K through grade 3 reading.
The CNY/OC Teacher Center sponsored the summer 2018 anchor learning event that will begin to build capacity for classroom implementation across the County. The 6 day intensive LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) training event was provided to Reading League coaches and teacher representatives from every elementary building across 9 districts. The CNY/OC Teacher Center is focused on representing the teacher's learning perspective in this 3-5 year collaboration.
STEAM Quest is the result of a CNY/OC Teacher Center developed model for professional learning piloted during the summer of 2017. The model utilizes community partnerships to provide summer learning opportunities for both teachers and students.
In 2017, our key partners included SUNY Oswego, the Oswego County Department of Social Services, and two school districts. In 2018, the Onondaga County Department of Social Services, CiTi BOCES, and 3 additional school districts joined our team. We expanded from 2 sections to 6, and from 1 county to 2 from 2017 to 2018. Summer 2019 will offer 9 sites!
